Position description:

A Director of Product Management (PM) at Ex Libris, a ProQuest Company, is a diverse and rewarding role with many responsibilities and ownership on many aspects of the product. The director will manage a new product initiative in the area of academic research services with other PMs in the group. It will include releasing the initial product release while defining scope and priorities in collaboration with several development partners, go-to-market activities, creating marketing deliverables for product launches, developing baseline positioning and messaging content for collateral, presentations and sales tools and managing and communicating future product roadmaps. The director must be able to interface effectively and establish quick credibility and confidence with: Customers, R&D, Sales, Marketing Communication, Customer Support, and Distribution Partners. The director is expected to have the capability and experience in managing small PM teams while performing work by himself. The position will also require serving as the liaison between the business unit and the regional teams. This requires an extremely talented and flexible individual with strong presentation skills, adept business knowledge, organizational abilities, and who is capable of bridging customer business requirements to technical feature sets taking into account broader market trends, indices and competition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and analyzing market trends and customers’ requirements in order to identify product priorities for go to market via regionally focused marketing plans and tools
  • Lead product scoping priorities and close work with customers, while liaising with R&D
  • Maintaining relationship with key regional stakeholders (customers, sales, marketing) to identify market needs
  • Developing sales tools for direct sales people / partners
  • Perform sales training as required
  • Generating marketing materials (white papers, presentations, etc.)
  • Planning and participating in customer facing activities (business meetings, conferences, seminars, etc.)
  • Present and demo solutions as needed for internal (sales, executives) and external parties (customers/industry leaders/press/analysts)
  • Initiating, implementing and leading marketing programs and product launch campaigns
  • Maintain intimate knowledge of Ex Libris solutions

Relevant Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technical field (MBA preferred)



  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, between technical and non-technical teams
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and presentation skills (Excellent English)
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites
  • 1+ years’ experience in managing PM teams – advantage
  • Experience with Cloud Enterprise Solutions – advantage
  • Background in academic research processes in higher education – advantage
